The UN Special Rapporteur on Adequate Housing, Raquel Rolnik visited the U.S. in October and November of 2009 to examine the realization of the right to adequate housing, in particular in relation to subsidized housing programmes, the homeless situation and the foreclosure crisis. NLCHP and NESRI facilitated her visits with non-governmental organizations. In her report she discussed current issues including cuts in federal spending for low income housing, the persistent impact of discrimination in housing, substandard conditions, as well as the foreclosure crisis.
